Has experience in the area of ??Computer Science, currently conducts research focused on: information science and information technology, investigating issues related to the Data Life Cycle, Transparency and Information Flow in Productive Chains. He worked as a professor at Faccat Faculdade de Ciências Contábeis e Administração de Tupã, where he coordinated a course of Administration with Qualification in Systems Analysis for ten years and the course of Licenciatura in Computing. He worked in the private sector as a consultant, integrator and researcher of new information technologies from 1988 to 2004.

Master's degree (2002) and doctorate in Information Science by the School of Information Science / UFMG (2010) and a degree in Library Science by the School of Information Science of UFMG (1990). I have experience in the area of ​​Information Science, with emphasis on Organization and Representation of Information, planning, implementation, coordination of projects and management of teams. I have worked on a project of organization of information in biological laboratories, organization and representation of images and organization of knowledge and construction of a database with information of the images of the baroque churches of the sec. XVIII. I am an assistant professor in the Department of Organization and Information Processing of the School of Information Science and permanent professor of the Graduate Program in Management and Organization of Knowledge, PPG-GOC, UFMG. I am coordinator of the Research Group Representation of Knowledge and Information Retrieval - RECRI / UFMG and member of the NDE of the librarianship / UFMG course. My research interests are included in the project Organization Studies and information representation that go through investigations related to the issues of information organization in diverse contexts that contribute to improve the retrieval of information from the theoretical point of view and applied research. In this spectrum can be inserted the processes, methodologies, standards that allow integrating, information resources to integrate and manage data, as well as knowledge organization systems that enable the organization of information for the representation of information the products resulting from the application of such processes. Of particular note in this project are studies on catalogs, classification systems, semantic interoperability, digital repositories, indexing of images, indexing of images and the use of controlled vocabulary in image recognition, the theoretical foundations of languages indexing and knowledge organization systems, information retrieval and other theoretical aspects that involve the organization of knowledge and information.
