He worked in the private sector as a consultant, integrator and researcher of new information technologies from 1988 to 2004.

O meu nome é Rachel, eu sou professora do curso de biblioteconomia da Faculdade de Filosofia e Ciências da UNESP de Marília e o meu trabalho é “O papel dos mandados na curadoria digital”.
Objetivo deste trabalho era analisar, abordar a importância do papel dos metadados na curadoria digital, em especial identificar quais os principais tipos ou categorias de metadados são mais utilizados na curadoria digital e no ciclo de vida da curadoria digital.
Bom, nós sabemos que a preservação digital é um item muito importante nos dias atuais e uma parte, um requisito dentro da curadoria digital, um requisito que faz parte dessa curadoria. E nesse ciclo de vida em nessa preocupação com a preservação digital os metadados se fazem presentes. Então em relação ao ciclo de vida da curadoria digital nós temos aí algum algumas etapas, uma contextualização a criação do objeto digital que envolve as partes de captura desse objeto e armazenamento desse objeto, portanto metadados nesse cenário, criação desses objectos digitais e a inclusão, atribuição de metadados descritivos, administrativos, estruturais, garantia de acesso e uso nessa curadoria, obviamente também tem os metadados relacionados a isso, temos uma etapa de avaliação e seleção desses materiais na curadoria, o descarte e transparência, às ações de preservação que têm que ser realizadas nesses objetos nesse ciclo de curadoria, logo depois uma reavaliação, desses objetos digitais, armazenamento desses objetos a longo prazo, o acesso e a reutilização de muitos objetos ou informações desses objetos e converter objetos digitais a partir do original que está bem relacionado com a questão de preservação.
Bom nesse cenário todo a preservação digital ela é um item fundamental mas não não existe sozinha, em todas essas etapas do ciclo de vida os metadados estão presentes e vários tipos de metadados, então quais esses tipos de metadados? Quais os papéis dos metadados nesse ciclo?
O que foi possível identificar na literatura que nós temos metadados administrativos que vão atuar neste ciclo, geralmente estão relacionados ao uso de gerenciamento e processamento das informações desses objetos digitais, para isso futuramente pode ser utilizado na preservação mas nós precisamos ter essa representação, essa descrição por metadados de modo mais administrativos, temos que ter metadados descritivos, sem ele nós não temos um contexto do objeto nem a individualização desse objeto, metadados técnicos, que de alguma forma nesse ciclo de curadoria traz informações técnicas do objeto no sistema mas também atua certa forma na administração desses é objetos digitais no ciclo de vida da curadoria, metadados estruturais que vão indicar como os objetos são compostos, como são estruturados e vão fornecer informações de uso desses objetos na como eles podem ser utilizados e por fim associado a todos esses os metadados de preservação, que certa forma preserva mas também funcionam para administrar certas informações e gerir esses objetos, preservar ao longo do tempo e fazer o gerenciamento desses objetos para acesso a longo prazo.
O que foi possível identificar que nós temos vários tipos e categorias de metadados conforme abordados no trabalho e esses tipos de metadados vão compor padrões, alguns padrões vão ter mais que um tipo de metadado e outras vão ser bem específicos,então nós temos padrões descritivos que podem ter as leis a um ou outro metadado administrativo e temos por exemplo padrões metadados específico de preservação, lembrando que eles vão atuar esses padrões que são específicos de preservação, vão atuar com padrões descritivos por exemplo e os dois nem o sistema, nem em um ambiente vão estar gerenciados por padrões metadados administrativos por exemplo.
O que nós podemos concluir dessa análise, desse levantamento sobre os papéis dos metadados na curadoria digital é que embora a preservação digital seja o item bem atual, específico e importante de ser considerado, também faz parte do objeto de estudo deste trabalho, não se faz uma preservação digital nessa preocupação toda do ciclo de vida dos objetos, sem ter outros tipos de padrões de metadados, então o ciclo de vida da curadoria digital vai estar presente nesse ciclo vários outros tipos de metadados e padrões, então alguns mais administrativos, outros mais destrutivos, outros mais técnicos muitos estruturais e por fim de preservação que vai tratar de informações específicas de preservação mas atuar com outros tipos de padrões nesse contexto para poder proporcionar essa preservação digital na curadoria digital.
A preservação digital constitui um papel importante nesse ciclo de curadoria, os metadados se fazem presentes, obviamente são muito importantes e a próxima fase do estudo além desse diagnóstico inicial é abordar quais os padrões de metadados são utilizados nessa preservação digital.
